Pompeii

25,000 people lived in Pompeii in 79 AD when Vesuvius erupted.
It was a city with roads, indoor plumbing, markets, and even bordellos.
No one knows how many people died and how many survived.

The amount of excavation lets you feel you are walking among the Pompeians

The city included theaters and of course brick ovens (for the pizza)

The mosaic flooring remains almost as vivid as it was 2,000 years ago!
