[Note: As Stephen's Dad and the family genealogist, I discovered a previously unknown distant cousin just moving to Singapore and sent them an email introducing us and Stephen to them. Here are the series of emails.]

[my initial email to our new found cousin:]
Dear Steve Miller,
We are 3rd cousins (once removed) through the Morstein family. I was born in Baltimore in 1944 and now live in Northern California. I am trying to update our family genealogy and just thought I would say hi. On a side note, my son, Stephen, is traveling through Asia on a one month vacation in August. He will be in Singapore for a few days. Are you already there?
Many thanks,
Joe Seidler

[our cousin's response back to me - which I forwarded to Stephen:]
Hi Joe,
This note is from Pat, Steve's wife. We just received our Internet connection about an hour ago, so haven't been able to receive your mail till now. If it is not too late, we would be glad to meet your son. He can email us or call our home at 464-8417. We live at 65A Mt. Sinai Lane Grenville Condo, Singapore 277031. We are near the Buona Vista MRT stop.
Thanks for getting in touch,
Pat Meyer

[Stephen's reply to our new found cousin:]
Hi Pat,
Thank you so much for the message. It turns out that we fell in love with the paradise here in the south of Thailand and will be extending our trip a few days. We will only be in Singapore from Sunday night to Monday morning when we catch our flight to Tokyo. We arrive at 7:30pm on Sunday and leave at 11am on Monday. Is the airport close enough to downtown to go have some dinner and then get a hotel until the next morning? Is there anything worth seeing at night? If you eat late dinners and have no plans on Sunday, we would love to take you out (providing you pick the place and give us directions, hehehe!)
I look forward to hearing from you,
Stephen and Anh

August 22:

Hi there,

I was able to talk with our cousin Steven in Singapore over the phone, but we didn:t have a chance to meet. Singapore is beautiful and clean and although there is not much culture there, it is a great city/country!

take care for now, love,
Stephen
