3-Day Breast Cancer Walk

DAY TWO - Saturday

Route - Carlmont High School to Skyline College, 16.5 miles:
Today's walk is shorter, but it climbs over 500 feet in elevation.
Walkers and crew sleep atop Skyline Drive.
(great view... but burrrr)

I spoke with Marcia this morning. She said sleeping in a tent last night was not bad and she had a hot shower this morning before leaving on the walk. Her shins are still a bit sore, but she said it's easier going up hill (go figure).

Lunch at Mills High School Great support along the route!

The great crew supporting the walkers At last, a nice view along a lake

The crew weren't always working hard Mother and Daughter Would you pick them up?
(Susan and Jessica)

Confusion sandwiched between inspiration.

Well I finally got to see Marcia. I met her at their overnight camping area high up on Skyline Drive. She had some swelling around her shin, but she said walking slowly helped. The fog had rolled in and the entire camping area was deep in mist, windy and cold. As if it isn't enough that these wonderful people are walking 60 miles for this great cause, but they also have to suffer through bad weather. They related standing in line this afternoon, after getting to camp, waiting for showers... can you imagine waiting in line for a shower in 55 degree, windy, damp weather? And to no surprise to me, I found them all in great spirits and laughing.
